The transport time for dangerous goods may be somewhat longer than is stated in the schedule, because certain substances cannot be loaded with other items.

There is a price supplement for dangerous goods:

• Class 1.1, 1.2, 1.5: 100% supplement to freight charge
• Other classes: 25% supplement to freight charge
• Minimum NOK 527 in addition to freight charge

PostNord’s Transporter Manual

PostNord’s Transporter Manual is intended to be a practical aid for the handling and transportation of dangerous goods. The contents comprise extracts from ADR and the regulations concerning domestic transport with ferries (state highway ferries).

Some regulations in this manual are stricter than what is specified in ADR, due to practical adaptation. Certain internal regulations have also been included.

Conditions for dangerous goods

Dangerous goods are accepted for transport with the following exceptions:

• Explosive substances and articles, with the exception of 1.4 S
• Toxic gases and empty, unclean packaging, marked with label no. 2.3, with the exception of aerosols.
• Class 3 and 4.1 desensitised explosives
• Class 6.1 toxic substances, packing group I
• Class 6.2 infectious substances in category A
• Radioactive material
  •  With the exception of UN no. 2908 to UN no. 2911, which can be accepted for carriage.

Dangerous goods – Guidance on dangerous properties and possible measures in the event of accident

As a sender of dangerous goods, you must ensure that the goods are:

• Permitted for transport according to ADR and correctly classified
• Correctly marked with UN number and hazard label
• Packed/packed together in UN-approved packaging
• Packed as “limited quantity”* with UN number/LQ or with “diamond” where upper and lower points are black.
• Packed as “excepted quantity”** with own hazard label
• Ensure that empty, uncleansed packages have been correctly marked, closed and sealed as if they were full.
• Transport document (dispatch note) for all dangerous goods shipments is issued and handed over to the transporter.
• Dangerous goods must only be handed over to "known" transporters. (ref. ADR section 1.10 provisions regarding security.

* "Limited quantity" does not require a transport document but the sender must advise the transporter of the total weight.
** " Excepted quantity" shipments do not require a transport document.

The transport document must include:

• UN number
• Product name
• Hazard warning label***
• Packaging group
• Tunnel restriction code
• Number and description of packages
• The total quantity for each type of dangerous goods, with own UN number, name of goods and any packaging group (stated as volume/gross mass)
• Name and address of sender and consignee
